This season witnessed a super over thriller of DC vs RR IPL 2025, and the Delhi Capitals (DC) won it vs Rajasthan Royals (RR). This edge-of-the-seat contest, which spilled over into a super-over, saw some standout performances from both teams, as Mitchell Starc, KL Rahul, and Tristan Stubbs rose to the fore in DC’s win. Mitchell Starc won the player of the match award for his outstanding performance with the ball.
DC Sets Tough Score of 188 in Regular Play

Delhi Capitals won the toss and decided to bat first. They posted a difficult total of 188/5 in their 20 overs, courtesy of Abhishek Porel’s 49-run innings. But their beginning was anything but smooth.
The top order suffered early jolts as Jack Fraser McGurk (9) was dismissed cheaply and Karun Nair was run out without opening his account. Despite that, Porel got into his groove, pressurizing Tushar Deshpande with a stunning 23-run outburst in the second over.
With the innings unfolding, runs were not easy to come by, particularly from the middle overs, as Joffra Archer and Hasaranga kept the flow in check. An abiding partnership of 63 runs between Abhishek Porel (38) and KL Rahul stabilized DC’s innings, although cautiously, taking 57 balls for the purpose.
Akshar Patel contributed significantly to increasing the run rate towards the end. His thrilling 34 off 14 balls with four fours and two sixes arranged for a solid finish for DC. Tristan Stubbs too contributed, getting 34* from 18 balls, which contained two fours and two sixes, taking DC’s total to 188.
Rajasthan Royals Short of Target, Leading to a Super Over

Rajasthan Royals came back with determination, scoring 188/4 from their 20 overs but narrowly missing the target. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shimron Hetmyer dug deep, but Mitchell Starc’s composed final over proved the game-changer.
Rajasthan had 9 runs to get on the final over, but Starc only yielded 8, keeping the contest alive and calling for a super over.
In the super over, Rajasthan sent Shimron Hetmyer and Riyan Parag to bat. The two batsmen began fiercely, scoring two fours off the first four balls. But with a dramatic change, Riyan Parag got run out during a free-hit, and they then got another run out of Yashasvi Jaiswal on the next ball. Rajasthan closed their super over with 11 runs on the board.
DC’s Clinical Chase in the Super Over

KL Rahul and Tristan Stubbs were given the chase in reply. Rahul played a composed hand, picking up four runs off the first ball and then hitting the boundary with a four on the second ball.
It was now the turn of Rahul’s partner Tristan Stubbs, who hit a six off the next ball itself, winning the race for Delhi Capitals with two balls still to go. Delhi won the super over and the match by chasing 11 runs in four balls.
