The Indian Premier League (IPL) is not only breaking new ground but also surprising cricket enthusiasts around the globe, and with the introduction of a robot dog, the tournament is poised to take the fan experience to new levels in 2025. In a revolutionary step, the IPL has incorporated this cutting-edge technology into its broadcasts, giving fans an exhilarating and novel experience like never before.
The Robot Dog Joins the Broadcast Team

In a recently released video on the IPL’s social media pages, the robot dog was seen playing around with the players in the pre-match practice for the Delhi Capitals vs. Mumbai Indians game. The robot, which resembled something out of a sci-fi movie, fascinated players, fans, and commentators.
The robot dog was not silently watching and was joining in the practice with the players as it co-mingled with some of cricket’s biggest stars. Delhi Capitals’ captain Axar Patel and Mumbai Indian’s superstar Hardik Pandya were left amazed by the remarkable machine with Axar even saying, “What is this?” as he walked over to it. Mumbai Indians fast bowler, Reece Topley even joked and asked, “What dog is this?”
A New Member Joins the TV Crew

The introduction of the robot dog has brought a fresh dimension to the IPL’s television viewing experience. Long-time commentator Danny Morrison was full of enthusiasm, talking about his happiness regarding the inclusion of the machine and how it could bring something new and interesting to the fans of cricket all over the world.
Not only does this inventive creation excite the players but Danny welcomed the commentators to ask fans for a name for this new robotic member.
The IPL 2025: A Thrilling Match Between Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians
Although the appearance of the robot dog captures the most attention, the Delhi Capitals-Mumbai Indians meeting also promises to be just as interesting. The Delhi Capitals have played four games in IPL 2025 and have yet to lose, as they try to find a way to continue their winning ways.
In stark contrast, the Mumbai Indians have only won one of their five games this season and desperately need a win. Both Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel will be expected to assume pivotal roles in this important match, with their all-round variety aiding their team in batting and bowling.
A Step Forward in Fan Engagement

The addition of a robot dog is a further significant step in the IPL’s push for new experiences for fans to connect with the game. With technology continuing to have a greater role in the sports entertainment space, it makes sense that the IPL wants to be at the forefront of digital connections.
Whether it is AI-based analytics, a virtual reality experience, or robotic pets in this instance that simulate interaction with humans, the IPL would like to reboot the fan experience.
