Mohammed Siraj made a solid start in his first game back after moving away from his previous team, RCB. The key was his powerplay spell, where his speed was significant as he kept hitting the stumps at around 140 kph regularly.

Siraj finished his spell with 3 wickets for 19 runs, with his hard-hit and accurate bowling. Siraj was a constant source of irritation to the RCB batter lineup.

He was taking wickets and keeping them on the back foot during the powerplay with his accurate aggressive bowls. He got the first wicket of Devdutt Padikkal, followed up with a smooth ball with a 145.9 kph speed to hit Phil Salt’s wickets. Siraj returned to the death overs again as he bowled out Livingstone towards the last over of his spell, with 3 wickets for 19 runs, with 14 dot balls.

RCB were in serious trouble early in their innings, being left at 42 for 4 after 6.2 overs. But Livingstone and a whirlwind knock by Jitesh Sharma brought back RCB into the game. Even as they lost wickets at regular intervals, Livingstone scored a knock of 50 off 39 balls, with an incredible 39 runs off only 17 balls against Rashid Khan.

Jitesh Sharma scored 29 runs off 17 balls and Tim David scored 32 runs off 18 balls to help RCB to their score of 169/8. Even though RCB finished strong in the last overs, the score was seen to be below par, regardless of being against a good GT team.

GT’s pursuit started shakily with Shubman Gill getting out early, and they were at 32 for 1 after 4.4 overs. Buttler, though, gave the team the stability they required.

Having struggled to get into his rhythm at first, Buttler turned his attention to RCB’s Rasikh Salam, dispatching him for 27 runs off only 12 balls. This attacking strokeplay got Buttler into his rhythm.

Assisted by Sai Sudharsan, Buttler scored 75 runs from 47 deliveries for the second wicket. Sudharsan played a classy knock of 49 off 36 balls before getting out, leaving Buttler to keep on attacking. Buttler hit his fifty in just 31 deliveries, and with the joining of Sherfane Rutherford, the chase started picking up.

Rutherford’s scorching cameo of 63 off 32 balls with Buttler guided GT to reach the target with 13 balls remaining, recording an eight-wicket win. GT’s bloodless chase also boosted their net run rate, cementing their leadership at the points table.

GT’s commanding performance in this GT vs RCB IPL 2025 encounter was a reflection of their all-around prowess. Although Siraj’s scorching spell and Buttler’s unruffled yet destructive batting were major highlights, the support from other players, like Sudharsan and Rutherford, made sure that GT chased down the total with ease.

RCB, though there were some gritty individual performances, could not make the best of their promising start and fell to their season’s first defeat.

This victory was GT’s second in three games, and it placed them higher on the points table, whereas RCB’s first defeat of the season relegated them to third place.
