IPL 2025 is about to begin in less than a week, and we couldn’t be more excited. Especially since this is the 18th edition of the tournament, BCCI has grand plans to embark upon this new exciting season, which starts on 22 March in Kolkata with the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders facing the fan-favourite Royal Challengers Bangalore.
IPL is known for its grand opening ceremonies, but since this season is special as IPL turns 18, BCCI is about to do something they’ve never done in the previous editions. The board is planning to organize opening ceremonies across all 13 venues that will be hosting IPL matches throughout the league. A source was quoted saying by Sportstar, ” The idea is to have a varied pool of Bollywood artists performing for all the programmes, and with limited time in between the innings, two to three artists could be accommodated for these events.”
“Since this is happening at such a scale for the first time, there are some logistical issues as well. So, the BCCI and State associations are working in tandem to ensure that the programmes are conducted smoothly without hampering the matches,” the source added.

Another source was seen hinting at the attendance of major Bollywood Stars like Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan saying, “Their presence is likely to add a touch of glamour and excitement to the highly anticipated event. Shah Rukh is expected to attend as his team is playing the opening match, and Salman might make an appearance to promote his upcoming film, Sikandar,”
Other stars like Shreya Ghoshal, Disha Patani, Karan Aujla, Arijit Singh, Shraddha Kapoor, and Varun Dhawan might also be performing according to a source. The opening ceremony and the inaugural match of the IPL will be available for live streaming on JioHotstar and Star Sports Network.
