Gill was looking comfortable at 31 off 49 balls when he attempted to chip a delivery from Mitchell Santner towards cover. The ball appeared to be sailing over Phillips’ head, but the New Zealand fielder leaped at the perfect moment and caught it with one hand in the air, dismissing Gill. The stunning catch left everyone in shock and will be remembered for a long time.

However, Phillips could only score 34 runs off 52 balls as the Black Caps suffered a four-wicket loss to India in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final in Dubai. With this win, India became the most successful team in Champions Trophy history.
