On Monday (January 27), Mitchell Owen joined the fastest-ever centuries club against Sydney Thunder helping the Hurricanes lift the trophy. It is one of the fastest BBL tons after Craig Simmons in 2014.

1. Craig Simmons in 2014 (39 Balls)

Craig Joseph Simmons held the record for the fastest century in the history of BBL till now. He played a smashing innings of 102 runs in 42 balls. He managed to hit a century in just 39 balls with 8 fours and 8 sixes in a seat-grabbing match against Adelaide Strikers and helped Perth Scorchers win the title by 5 runs in 2014. The left-hand batter grabbed the Player of the Match for his outstanding century.

2. Mitchell Owen in 2025 (39 Balls)

Hobart Hurricanes’ Mitchell Owen joined Craig Simmons in the joint-fastest century in BBL on January 27 against Sydney Thunder. Owen gave one of the most explosive batting performances of BBL as he chased 183 runs for his team to win the title. The 23-year-old hit an outstanding amount of 11 sixes and 6 fours. He reached a century in just a matter of 39 balls joining Simmons in the fastest BBL ton. The audience roared with excitement and joy as Hurricanes lifted the trophy after beating Sydney by 7 runs. Owen also got honoured as the Player of the Match as he played the inning of a lifetime.

Glenn James Maxwell is a true superstar of the cricket world. He is an all-in-one package as he offers a combination of skills that can change the match in a matter of seconds. Known for his unconventional shots, nail-biting fielding and off-spinner bowling, the batting all-rounder cracked the bowling game of the Hurricanes to hit one of the fastest centuries in the history of BBL in 2014 in 41 balls. Maxwell hit a mind-boggling number of 22 fours and 4 sixes and helped Melbourne Stars reach an unbeaten total score of 273 runs with 2 wickets. This score is still the highest team score in BBL history. The Hurricanes lost the game by 106 runs and Maxwell won the Player of the Match.

4. Josh Brown in 2024 (41 Balls)

Brisbane Heat’s Josh Brown played a breath-holding inning against Adelaide Strikers in a knockout match with an outstanding score of 140 runs in 57 balls. He hit 10 fours and 12 sixes to score a century in just 41 balls making him the third-highest individual scorer in BBL’s history. His innings defeated Adelaide Strikers and helped his team reach the finals. The 31-year-old won the Player of the Match for his contribution.

5. Luke Wright in 2012 (44 Balls)

English all-rounder Luke James Wright became the fifth fastest to 100 in 2012 in a match against Hobart Hurricanes. He played a thrilling inning of 8 fours and 9 sixes and reached a century in 44 balls with a total score of 117 runs off 60 balls. He won the Player of the Match award for his outstanding century.

6. Ben McDermott in 2017 (47 Balls)

Hurricanes’ Ben McDermott played an electrifying inning against Melbourne Renegades on January 12, 2017. He holds the record for hitting the sixth-fastest century in BBL’s history. Chasing the score of 223 runs, he hit 8 fours and 9 sixes with a total score of 114 runs off 52 balls reaching his ton in just 47 balls. Hurricanes won the match by 2 wickets. His inning was also, at the time, the second-highest individual score in BBL’s history.
