Shakib Al Hasan Prioritizes National Duty Over Franchise Cricket

Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan sacrifices lucrative franchise opportunities to focus on playing all three formats for his country, targeting the next T20 World Cup.

Shakib Al Hasan has announced his intention to prioritize his international career over lucrative franchise cricket opportunities. The veteran all-rounder, who is currently recovering from a finger injury, has already decided to skip the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) to focus on his return to Bangladesh’s domestic T20 tournament next month. Additionally, he is willing to sacrifice other franchise league opportunities to ensure he continues playing for Bangladesh in all three formats of the game.

Shakib’s dedication to national duty is evident in his willingness to forgo potential financial gains. He emphasizes that his primary objective is to represent Bangladesh on the international stage, even if it means missing out on lucrative contracts in various leagues around the world.

“I did not give my name in IPL and so there a window will be opened and when my manager gave my name in PSL I told him to withdraw it and my name is not there in PSL so I plan to give all this time to national team because I will sacrifice the franchise tournament that I used to play,” stated Shakib.

Despite Bangladesh’s struggles in the recent World Cup, Shakib remains optimistic about his future and the team’s potential. He expressed his desire to continue playing for a long time and contribute to Bangladesh’s success in all formats of the game.

Shakib’s return to competitive cricket is expected to take place during the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), which is scheduled to begin after the upcoming national elections. This will allow him ample time to recover from his injury and regain full fitness before rejoining the national team.

Overall, Shakib’s decision to prioritize his national duty over personal gain is a testament to his commitment to Bangladesh cricket. His leadership and experience will be crucial for Bangladesh’s continued success in the future.
