Darcie Rose Brown is a pace bowler for the South Australian Scorpions in the Women’s National Cricket League and the Adelaide Strikers in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL). In March 2021, she crafted her international breakthrough for the Australia women’s cricket squad, and later that month, she agreed with Cricket Australia.
Brown was brought up in Kapunda, a town in South Australia’s Barossa Valley, and comes from an athletic family. She, her two older brothers, and her father have all served A-grade cricket for the Kapunda squad in the Barossa and Light competition, and she has also managed to play first-grade women’s divisional cricket for the Northern Jets in the South Australia Cricket Association.
Brown had already been competing in top–level basketball, cricket, netball, and Australian Rules football competitions by the time she was in her mid-teens, as well as tennis. She was a member of South Australia’s national title-winning schoolgirl netball team in 2018 and was chosen for an Australian schoolgirl netball tour of New Zealand. In October 2018, she managed to score 117 off 84 balls in Adelaide Premier Cricket, helping to set a world record for a 50-over match score of 3/596.
