Apart from being a good bowler, Shivang Kumar has shown himself to be an excellent batsman. As shown in the Vijay Hazare Trophy Match on January 6th earlier this year, he scored 67 runs during that game. Also on January 8th of 2026, he took 5 wickets with a total of 45 runs while bowling 10 overs against Karnataka.

He has played a total of 4 T20 matches in his career so far and has taken 4 Wickets. As a result, during the mini-auction for IPL 2026, Shivang Kumar was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for his Base Price of ₹30 Lakhs to add to their squad. Moreover, because Shivang made his debut in a big tournament like IPL with just 7 matches behind him shows the high level of trust that the team management has in him.

Captain Ishan Also Praises Shivang

Furthermore, during the match toss, Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Ishan Kishan also praised Shivang Kumar, stating, “We have included Shivang in the team for this match. This ensures that our options for taking wickets during the game remain open, as he has bowled well in the nets which is why we have given him this opportunity.”

Additionally, after winning the toss, KKR invited SRH to bat first. While the KKR team made no changes to their Playing XI for this match, the SRH team selected Shivang Kumar as a bowleShivang r. However, he proved to be quite expensive in this match; he conceded 41 runs in his quota of 4 overs, failing to take a single wicket in the process.
