Ishan Kishan will has replaced KL Rahul for India’s World Test Title match against Australia, the BCCI said on Monday. Despite not having yet participated in a Test match for his nation, Kishan was already named to India’s Border-Gavaskar Trophy team earlier this year. But a game was refused to the southpaw. Kishan has had 48 First-Class appearances and has run for 2985 runs at an average of 38.76. The left-hander has amassed 99 catches and 11 stumpings during the course of his FC career. During the current IPL season, Kishan has scored 293 runs in 10 games, averaging 29.30 with two fifties.
Since Rahul will be unable to participate due to a thigh injury, Kishan will serve as KS Bharat’s backup wicketkeeper. The squad includes seamers Jaydev Unadkat and Umesh Yadav, both of whom suffered injuries during the current IPL 2023 season. The BCCI states that a determination about their involvement will be made later.
Unadkat injured his left shoulder while bowling in the nets for the Lucknow Super Giants after falling over the side rope. Umesh, on the other hand, suffered a minor injury to his left hamstring while playing for Kolkata Knight Riders.
India has also chosen Ruturaj Gaikwad, Mukesh Kumar, and Suryakumar Yadav as stand-by players for the forthcoming campaign. India came in second place in the opening tournament.
The World Tennis Championship Final will start on June 7 at the London Oval.
