In a candid revelation, Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma shared his feelings for the first time since the Men’s ODI World Cup final loss, expressing the difficulty of moving on from the defeat in Ahmedabad.

During the final at Narendra Modi Stadium on November 19, Rohit showcased his brilliance with a 31-ball 47, steering India to 80 at the end of the first powerplay. However, India struggled in the middle overs, setting a target of 240. Australia chased it down, ending India’s ten-match unbeaten streak and denying them the elusive global trophy after a ten-year drought.

In a heartfelt video on ‘Team45ro’ Instagram account, Rohit admitted, “If you don’t get what you want, what you’ve been looking for all this while, what you were dreaming of, you get disappointed. You get frustrated at times.” He highlighted the challenge of coming back after the final and credited his family and friends for keeping him going.

Rohit acknowledged the overwhelming fan support and appreciation, stating, “Everywhere we went during this entire campaign, there was so much support from everyone who came to the stadium and people who were watching it from home as well.” He expressed gratitude for fans telling him they were proud of the team’s performance, contributing to his healing process.

Looking ahead, Rohit Sharma will join the Indian team for Tests against South Africa in Centurion (December 26-30) and Cape Town (January 3-7, 2024), marking India’s second series of the 2023-2025 World Test Championship cycle. Rohit missed the previous Test series in South Africa due to injury, where India faced a 2-1 defeat.
