In the match, Pakistan scored 149/4 in 20 overs after deciding to bat first. After being reduced to 68/4 in 12.1 overs, it was skipper Bismah Maroof (68* off 55 balls) and Ayesha Naseem (43* off 25 balls) who brought Pakistan back into the game with an 81-run fifth-wicket stand.
India’s bowling selection was spinner Radha Yadav (2/21). Deepti Sharma, an all-rounder, also took one wicket.
Chasing 150, opener Shafali Verma (33 off 25 balls) provided a promising start to Women in Blue’s run-chase. Yastika Bhatia (17) and skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (16) both struggled with the bat. At 93/3 in 13.3 overs, India was in a delicate situation.
Jemimah then partnered up with wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh to help India win the game. Richa provided excellent support to Jemimah’s anchoring effort with a hard-hitting cameo of 31* in just 20 balls.
With this, India completed the second-highest run chase in tournament history. England achieved the highest run chase versus Australia in 2009, as the former chased down the Aussies’ target of 164 runs. In four overs, Nashra Sandhu took 2/15. Sadia Iqbal also took 1/25 off four overs. Jemimah was named ‘Player of the Match’ for her fifty.
