Pakistan women registered a surprise 13-run win over India in the Asia Cup match held in Sylhet on Thursday. This was Pakistan’s first win against India in T20Is after 2016. Earlier, Pakistan captain Bismah Maroof opted to bat first in seam-friendly conditions. Pakistan scored 137/6 in their 20 overs. In reply, India was shot out for 124 runs in 19.4 overs.

Experienced batter Nida Dar has top-scored for Pakistan with a fighting half-century. The Number 5 batter hit an unbeaten 56 off 37 balls to help Pakistan post a respectable total. Her knock was laced with five fours and a six. Skipper Maroof also played a handy knock, scoring 32 runs.
India loses the plot early
Chasing 138, India started with positive intent. However, after the fall of opener S. Meghana (15), the remaining batters just plummeted. India lost wickets at regular intervals. Ultimately, wicket-keeper Richa Ghosh (26) tried to stage a comeback, but it was too late for India. Ghosh hit three sixes in her entertaining knock.

Earlier, Deepti Sharma shone with the ball by bagging three wickets for 27 runs. Pooja Vastrakar, also bagged two wickets for the Women in Blue. Nashra Sandhu was the wrecker-in-chief for the Pak bowlers by bagging three wickets (3/30). Meanwhile, pacers Nida Dar (2/23) and Sadia Iqbal (2/24) also took crucial wickets.
What did Harmanpreet say after the loss?
Talking after the match, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur said the strategy of giving more chances to new players cost them the match. The Haryana cricketer added it was a chaseable target. The captain added Pakistan was the deserving winner. She said the team would never take any opponents lightly before signing off.
Earlier, India enjoyed a great record against the neighboring nation. They won 10 out of the 12 T20Is they played against the opponents. Meanwhile, India never lost to Pakistan in the ODIs. They won all 11 games played between both teams.
