The multi-format Women’s Ashes 2023 will kick off on Thursday in Trent Bridge, Nottingham, with Australia taking on England in a one-off Test before moving on to three T20Is and as many ODIs.
Meg Lanning was ruled out earlier this month owing to medical difficulties; thus, Alyssa Healy will captain Australia in this series. Heather Knight will lead the hosts England.
Format
The winner of the multi-format series will be determined by a point system. A Test victory is worth four points, a tie is worth two points, and a loss is worth none. In ODIs and T20Is, a win is worth two points, while a tie or a draw is worth one point for both teams.
Five-day Test
This will be the first time that a women’s Ashes Test will last five days rather than four. This is also the first time that the dukes ball, rather than the Kookaburra, will be used in a women’s Ashes Test.
