Will Jacks has officially confirmed his return to the Mumbai Indians for the remainder of the IPL 2025, ending speculations about his availability. The England all-rounder shared a photo from his flight to Mumbai on Instagram, signalling his return at such a crucial league stage.
Why Was Will Jacks Not Available Now?
Will Jacks, along with other overseas players, was forced to leave India after the IPL was temporarily suspended due to military tensions between India and Pakistan. The suspension followed an abandoned match between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings in Dharamshala, which was called off due to an air strike near the venue.
In response, the BCCI and IPL governing bodies prioritised player safety and arranged their return. This created uncertainty for many franchises, including MI, regarding whether they would be able to join again.
What Does His Return Mean To The Mumbai Indians

Will Jacks’ return is a significant boost for MI, who are currently placed fourth on the points table in the IPL 2025 with 14 points and are still looking for a playoff spot. He has played 11 matches this season and scored a total of 195 runs and taken five wickets. He was named Player of the Match twice for his all-rounder abilities. His presence will add depth to MI’s batting and bowling lineup.
However, he will only be available for the last two league matches and will miss the playoffs due to his selection for England’s ODI Series against the West Indies. If MI qualifies for the knockouts, Jonny Bairstow is most likely to replace him.
MI’s Must-Win Matches
Mumbai Indians will start their campaign again on 21 May against Delhi Capitals. Further, the team will play against Punjab Kings on 26 May, and both matches are a must-win for the Mumbai Indians to secure a playoff spot, given the tight points table and uncertainty around the availability of overseas players across all teams.
