Why are Sehwag and Gavaskar being trolled on Twitter?

“Sehwag and Gavaskar face backlash over ‘Kamla Pasand’ advertisement” – Twitter reacts to Indian cricket legends’ involvement in surrogate advertising.

For their “Kamla Pasand” ads, Virender Sehwag and Sunil Gavaskar are the targets of trolling on social media sites like Twitter. In the advertisement, Sehwag and Gavaskar were both seen munching on “Kamla Pasand silver coated elaichi.” Kamla Pasand essentially promotes their “Pan Masala” through proxy advertising through their “Elaichi.”

Even top Bollywood stars appear in Kamla Pasand’s advertising. They produced advertisements with Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan and actor Ranveer Singh the previous year. In order to promote “Kamla Pasand’s silver coated elaichi,” they also engaged in surrogate advertising. Cricket enthusiasts and supporters of former Indian batters Gavaskar and Sehwag were outraged by the commercial. Here are some of the Twitter users’ responses.

After his comments regarding the altercation between Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir also got viral, Sehwag was ridiculed even more. Sehwag argued that the two “icons” shouldn’t set a bad example for kids by partaking in such activities, but those same claims bit him when detractors charged the former India opener with being hypocritical in light of his participation in an advertisement for the Indian tobacco company.

People on Twitter voiced their irritation at the endorsement’s two Indian sports legends, Viru and Sunil Gavaskar. Following their altercation, Sehwag and Gavaskar both demanded a much harsher penalty for Kohli and Gambhir, claiming that the 100% fine imposed by the BCCI was insufficient and that banning them would stop similar confrontations in the future.
