Meanwhile, some players have not been at their best ahead of the tournament. Their respective teams had pinned hopes on these players, but haven’t delivered yet. It is a distressing sight for a fan to see the top stars failing. However, they would also know that anything can change in the course of one bright knock.

Players with form concerns

Australia’s big hitter Glenn Maxwell has been dismissed for single-digit scores in his last seven T20I innings. This forgettable record has put a question mark on his place in team eleven. The emergence of Tim David as an alternative has also added worries. But Maxwell is a three-dimensional cricketer, and hence the Aussies would want their star to bounce back quickly.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant have not been scoring big runs in the past few games. While Rohit’s place is best assured, the left-hander Pant may miss the nod in the final eleven. The availability of Dinesh Karthik as a wicket-keeper finisher, makes it hard for Pant.

South Africa skipper Temba Bavuma is battling with scoring issues. He has not had a single good knock against India in the recently concluded white ball series. The Proteas have fielded Bavuma while Reeza Hendricks, who has been in top form missed game time. Bavuma needs to bounce back quickly, as South Africa looks to better their position.

How has Kohli bounced back to form ahead of the World Cup?

The former Indian skipper endured a form drought before the 2022 Asia Cup. He was questioned by fans and critics. However, Kohli addressed the issues with the bat and scored the highest runs in the tournament. King Kohli also ended his century wait with a stunning knock against Afghanistan.

Later in a presser, the legendary batter said he did not take the bat for one month. Instead, the run machine took a mental break and returned to the game. It helped him to regain his focus and rediscover his batting mojo.

Sometimes, form is just a clean strike away from the reach of a seasoned batter. Meanwhile, the teams would hope the star batters get back to runs and deliver for the team in the ICC T20 World Cup, starting on October 16.
