
Virat Kohli hints at retirement from T20 International cricket
Virat Kohli who is considered one of the finest all-format batsmen of the modern era, recently hinted that he might retire from T20 International cricket. Although he still has a few more years of cricket left, he made it clear in an interview that his retirement will be based on certain conditions.
Retired after India’s T20 World Cup win
Virat Kohli retired from T20 International cricket after India won the ICC T20 World Cup in 2024. India won the trophy by defeating South Africa in the final of the competition. Kohli’s decision surprised many, but it proved to be his last T20I match.
Virat Gonna Still playing in other formats
Virat Kohli may have retired from T20 International cricket but he is still represents India in Test and ODI cricket. His batting level is still excellent and his fitness is keeping him in the game.
Possibility of return to T20I cricket
During a recent interview, Virat Kohli once again hinted at a return to T20I cricket. However, he also made it clear that if he returns, there will be a special condition for it.
May return for LA28 Olympics
Virat Kohli said that if India qualifies for the final of the men’s cricket competition at the Olympic Games to be held in Los Angeles in 2028, then he is ready to return to T20I cricket. Men’s cricket is likely to be included in the 2028 Olympics and if India plays for the gold medal in this competition, then Kohli can withdraw his retirement to play on that occasion.
Future plans
Virat Kohli also said that playing in the Olympics and winning a gold medal would be a matter of great pride for him. Although playing till 2028 may be a challenge for him, Kohli indicated that he can keep himself ready for this goal, given his fitness and his dedication to the game.
Virat Kohli will once again take the field for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the upcoming IPL 2025. He still aims to remain at the top of his game, and it will be interesting to see which direction his career takes in the coming years.
