The veteran off-spinner of Sri Lanka Ajanta Mendis has stamped the best bowling figures in the history of the Asia Cup championship. In the final of the 2008 Asia Cup where Sri Lanka was facing the strong side of India, Ajanta Mendis ensured the victory for his team single-handedly. He clinched six wickets including the dismissals of Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina, Irfan Pathan, and RP Singh.
He crafted the figure of 6/13 (8-overs), and in the end, Sri Lanka won the tournament by beating India with a gap of exactly 100 runs in that game.
- Arshad Ayub (India).
The Indian off-spinner Arshad Ayub registered the second-best bowling figures of the Asia Cup when he took a brilliant fifer in the final of the 1988 edition. India was chasing a small total of 144 runs against Pakistan and the only reason behind their collapse was the figures of 5/21(9) stamped by Arshad Ayub.
