Matthew Spoors (Canada)- 108*

Matthew Spoors from Canada holds the T20I record for the highest score on debut. The Canadian batter opening the innings remained not out for the entirety of 20 overs and went on to score 108 runs in 66 balls hitting 14 fours and three sixes. His knock was instrumental in Canada beating the Philippines by 118 runs during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers in 2022.

Leslie Dunbar (Serbia)- 104

Leslie Dunbar from Serbia too scored a century on his debut. Dunbar batting at number three scored 104 runs in just 61 balls hitting five fours and 10 sixes. Dunbar’s century went in vain as Serbia went on to lose the match against Bulgaria by six wickets.

JP Kotze (Namibia)- 101*

Even though JP Kotze with his knock of 104 not out on debut ranks below Spoors and Dunbar his knock might be the most impactful knock among the three. Batting at number four, Kotze entered the crease with only nine overs left in the first innings. Kotze scored 101 runs in 43 balls hitting seven fours and nine overs. His century allowed Namibia to post a total of 240 runs against Botswana. Namibia won the clash against Botswana by 124 runs.

Ravinderpal Singh (Canada)- 101

Ravinderpal Singh too scored a quickfire century just like Kotze. Batting at number four, Singh scored 101 runs in 48 balls hitting six fours and 10 sixes. The Canadian middle-order batter was dismissed by Conroy Wright. Thanks to Ravinderpal’s knock, Canada defeated the Cayman Islands by 84 runs.

Ricky Ponting (Australia)- 98*

Ricky Ponting was not the only player making their debut when he scored 98 not out against Trans-Tasman rivals, New Zealand in 2005. It was the first-ever T20I match and the 22 players from both sides were making their debuts. Ponting scored 98 runs in 55 balls and remained not out. In his knock, he smashed eight fours and five sixes. Australia scored 214 runs in the first innings thanks to the knock by their skipper. Despite Scott Styris making a quickfire half-century, New Zealand lost to Australia by 44 runs.
