
The Golden Bat Award is given to the player who scores the maximum number of runs in the tournament in that particular year. It was introduced in the T20 World Cup after it was a success in the ICC World Cup. Mathew Hayden was the first to get this award in 2007 when he scored 265 runs in 6 matches that he had played in the entire tournament. There was no other player who had scored more than him. His strike rate was exceptional, and he set the record and pace for an exceptional batting and innings by a batter.

As batters are given the Golden bat awards, bowlers and other players are given the Golden ball award for the individual who collects the maximum number of wickets in the different matches that he plays. The Golden Bat award is very prestigious for the batters as they compete to get the maximum runs for the team. The batters are able to take the initiative towards hitting the ball as much as they can and make excellent scores.
