The Indian team management is satisfied with how the players are adjusting to the bounce and pace of the tracks ahead of the T20 World Cup.
The Indian squad, captained by Rohit Sharma, arrived in Australia over 20 days before their 120th World Cup opening on October 23 against arch-rival Pakistan, and has been busy practicing for the competition at the WACA facility here.
The Indian players have been undergoing rigorous preparation, which consists of endurance exercises, batting and bowling practise in the nets, and fielding drills. Head coach Rahul Dravid, batting coach Vikram Rathour, bowling coach Paras Mhambrey, and fielding coach 1 Dilip have all kept a close eye on the practices.
Only becoming accustomed to the circumstances was the main concern. We all anticipated that the conditions in Australia would be different, particularly the pace and bounce of the surfaces compared to those in India. The purpose of arriving early, staying a while, and practicing here was to become accustomed to these circumstances as well as the pace and bounce.
The bounce here in Australia is completely different from what we experienced in our previous games played here. Therefore, that provides the bowlers with a fantastic opportunity to adjust to the conditions, the bounce of the wicket, hitting those lengths, and what are the specific lengths you want to hit.
Dilip, the fielding coach, continued, “On day one, our goals were to increase throwing intensity and make a few small catches. The most crucial element is lateral movement, which involved travelling farther in less time. On day two, we wanted to demonstrate on this open field that wind is an issue. To give them a clearer understanding of what was actually going on, we concluded by throwing a cricket ball.
India won their first practise match here against Western Australia Cricket Association XI by a score of 13 runs on Monday. Before heading to Brisbane for the two official warm-up games against England and New Zealand on October 13, the visitors will play a second practice match against the same opposition.
