In modern days T20I cricket has become the most popular format in international cricket and most of the players are not comfortable playing the shorter formats as compared to any longer format. Playing in tests has become the new wonder for nowadays cricketers. We’ve seen so many players who’ve been great performers in ODI but never showed their magic in Test cricket, that is acceptable because both formats are poles apart, and playing 100 tests is not a piece of cake. There were great test players in history who struggled in the ODI format one of the biggest examples is former Indian batter and captain Sunil Gavaskar who scored 34 centuries in test cricket but managed to score only one in the ODI and that too came in his second last game. Nowadays players like Suryakumar Yadav are the perfect example of the term T20 stars ODI struggles, but he is not the only one in this list. There are a total of 7 Players except for associate players who scored centuries in shorter former but still looking to repeat it in ODI cricket.
Surya Kumar Yadav
Indian star T20 batter Surya Kumar Yadav has become a sensation in T20Is from the moment in stepped in and became one of the most important T20I players for India. He is the current no.1 ranked batter in the world and he has the second most centuries(3) in this format. Despite being one of the best players in the 20-over game he is still looking for a big break in ODIs. Where T20 he has three centuries in 54 games with 1921 runs, in ODIs he scored just 773 runs in 37 games with just four half-centuries. After failing in World Cup 2023 he scored a fabulous 80 runs against Australia last night which proves that no matter how soft he is in the ODI, he doesn’t need any excuse in the shorter format.
Colin Munro
One of the finest T20 batters from New Zealand Colin Munro is the second batter in this list. He was one of the most explosive batters of all time. He has the second most centuries(3) in T20Is in 65 games where he scored 1724 runs with an average of 31.34. When it comes to ODI Colin has struggled to score a century in 57 games. He has scored 1272 runs in ODI with 8 half centuries but he has never been able to convert them in triple-digit score scores. This is shocking to see this talented batter struggling in ODI but he was best in his zone and still, he is the highest T20 centurion for New Zealand.
Glenn Phillips
Another Kiwi player is on the list who has a great number in T20 but failed at the stage of ODI cricket. Glenn has played 63 T20 games where he has scored 1559 runs with two hundred and nine half centuries on the other hand he has played 30 ODI games where he scored 735 runs with an average of 35 but he didn’t score a century in it yet his highest score in this format is 72. He is an excellent all-rounder in both formats but he has a strong hand in T20Is.
Liam Livingstone
English all-rounder Liam Livingston is one of the most attacking players in recent times he has scored a beautiful century against Pakistan in T20 but he is still looking to do it in ODI. He has played 33 T20 games where he scored 461 runs with an average of 21.95 and in ODI he played 22 games where he scored 496 runs with an average of 29.17 with three half-centuries. Liam is good with bat and ball, he has 18 wickets in T20 and 13 wickets in ODI so far.
Deepak Hooda
IPL and domestic sensation Deepak Hooda scored a century in T20Is against Ireland which made him an overnight star but after that, he got a chance in ODI and he disappointed everyone. Deepika has played 21 T20I games where he scored 368 runs with an average of 30.66 and there is only a plus score he has in international cricket. In ODIs, he played 10 games and scored just 153 runs with the highest score of 33. We hope that he can again manage to return to international cricket and cement and give a headache to the selectors.
Hazratullah Zazai
Hazratullah Zazai is one of the most renowned T20 players of Afghanistan he has scored a beautiful hundred(162*) which is the second-highest score in T20I after Aaron Finch (175). Besides his performance in T20, he struggled to his place in the ODI squad. He scored just 361 runs in 16 ODI games with two half-centuries.
