The island nation tops the list of teams with the most wins in the T20 World Cup with 31 wins in 51 matches which makes for a win percentage of 61.76%. Sri Lanka’s wins in the multination tournament include the country’s title-winning campaign in 2014 where the Lasith Malinga-led side defeated India in the final and the 2012 campaign where the team lost to West Indies in a low-scoring contest. Out of the 51 matches played Sri Lanka has lost 19 matches in the tournament so far

Pakistan

The 2009 T20 World Cup champion has been the second most successful team in the multination tournament having won 28 out of the 47 World Cup matches that the team has featured in so far. Pakistan has an impressive win percentage of 60.63% in a World Cup career spanning from 2007 to 2022. The men in green have had a successful campaign in the last two editions of the T20 World Cup in 2021 and 2022 held in UAE and Australia respectively as the team made it to the top four on both occasions.

India

The men in blue have won 27 and lost 15 out of the 44 matches that they have played in the tournament so far with one game ending in a no result. Interestingly the only abandoned game for India came in the inaugural edition of the tournament in 2007 held in South Africa against Scotland which was India’s first game in the history of the T20 World Cup. The Rohit Sharma-led side has a win percentage of 63.95% having played in all editions of the World Cup held so far which includes the team’s title win in the inaugural edition.

Australia

The 2021 T20 World Cup champions have so far won 25 matches in T20 World Cup having lost 15 with not a single game getting washed out. This takes Australia’s winning percentage to 62.50%. The Aussies have tasted success in the multination tournament only once which is in contrast to their reputation in world cricket as they are the deafening world champions in the Test and ODI formats of the game.

England

The defending world champions in T20 format have managed to win 24 out of the 44 matches that the team has played so far. Having lost 19 with one game ending in a no result the English team has a win percentage of 55.81% which includes two title-winning campaigns in 2010 and 2022 when the team defeated England and Pakistan in the final when the competition took place in West Indies and Australia respectively
