Suryakumar Yadav Successfully Undergoes Groin Surgery in Germany

India’s top T20I batter, Suryakumar Yadav, undergoes a successful groin surgery in Munich, Germany, with hopes for a quick recovery.

India’s top-ranked T20I batter, Suryakumar Yadav, has undergone a successful groin surgery in Munich, Germany, on January 17. Reports indicate that the surgery was for a sports hernia, a condition coincidentally shared with KL Rahul, who also underwent a similar procedure in Germany in 2022.

Suryakumar, accompanied by his wife Devisha, has been in Germany for the surgical intervention. Following the surgery, he took to his social media accounts to express gratitude, stating, “Surgery done. I want to thank everyone for their concerns and well wishes for my health, and I am happy to tell you all that I will be back very soon.”

The 33-year-old cricketer has been sidelined since suffering a left ankle injury while fielding during the third T20I against South Africa last month, shortly after achieving a 56-ball century. Subsequently, he was seen wearing a moon boot, indicating the severity of the injury. Reports are suggesting that Suryakumar also underwent an operation on the injured ankle and underwent rehab at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru before heading to Germany for groin surgery.

The focus now turns to Suryakumar’s recovery timeline, with uncertainty about his fitness for the commencement of IPL 2024, slated to begin around the third week of March. A key player for the five-time champions Mumbai Indians, his presence is crucial for the Indian team ahead of the 2024 Men’s T20 World Cup scheduled from June 1-29 in the USA and the West Indies.
