Aiden Markram, a South African batter, was recently selected Sunrisers Hyderabad’s captain for the IPL 2023.

Sunrisers Hyderabad on Thursday unveiled their jersey for the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL). The team used a photoshoot with Indian international talents including batter Mayank Agarwal, pace wonder Umran Malik, and all-rounder Washington Sundar to debut the jersey on their official Twitter account. On April 2, Sunrisers Hyderabad will face Rajasthan Royals at their home stadium, Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, to open the IPL 2023 season.

With six wins, eight defeats, and a total of 12 points from the previous season, SRH placed eighth in the standings. They were unable to advance to the playoffs.

Aiden Markram, a South African batter, was recently selected as Sunrisers Hyderabad’s captain for the IPL 2023.

The 28-year-old Protea is no stranger to the leadership position; just this month, he guided Sunrisers Eastern Cape to the first SA20 championship. He contributed significantly to the team’s SA20 victory and finished the year as the third-highest run scorer.

After releasing New Zealand captain Kane Williamson ahead of the IPL mini auction in December of last year, Sunrisers were forced to make a decision on the leadership position. In the 2022 IPL, the hitter had form issues but still managed to score 216 runs in 13 innings.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, an Indian bowler who has been with the team from its formation, and Mayank Agarwal, an opener who most recently captained the Punjab Kings, were also candidates for the top position. For INR 8.25 crore, the franchise acquired Mayank Agarwal.

With Markram’s performance in the SA20 league, the Sunrisers Hyderabad administration decided to go forward with him.

Prior to the IPL auction, the management chose West Indies veteran Brian Lara as the head coach in December of last year. At the auction, they made some significant acquisitions, with Harry Brook being the biggest.

At INR 13.25 crore, Brook was purchased by the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for the upcoming 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) season.
