This IPL 2025 season has been disappointing for the greatest franchises like Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad. Last season, SRH were the finalists of IPL 2024, and this season they started with a fiery innings of scoring the 2ns highest total of IPL history, 1st was also set by them last year, and this year they were expected to cross the mark of 300 runs with such an explosive batting order.
However, they still lost various matches and have won only 3 victories so far against Chennai Super Kings, Punjab Kings, and Rajasthan Royals. In their encounter with Delhi Capitals at Rajiv Gandhi stadium, they dismissed DC at just 133, but unfortunately, the match got abandoned due to rain, and their chances of qualifying were affected.
Reason behind Sunrisers Hyderabad’s failure in IPL 2025

- Ineffective Bowlers– Since the start of the tournament, the bowlers of SRH have not been in form for the team and even struggled with a total of 286, where the opponents Rajasthan Royals, made 242. In the powerplay, Mohd Shami failed to get early wickets for the team in the important phase, which is the prior job of a seamer who bowls in the first 6 overs of the match.
- Aggressive Approach– SRH batsmen were instructed to hit every ball they faced, and this cost them with some early collapses, and after one match, their top order failed majorly throughout the tournament. Ishan Kishan scored the first century of IPL 2025, and from then on, he was not able to cross the 40-plus mark apart from one innings. Abhishek Sharma looked fine this season, scoring the 2nd highest individual score in IPL history while chasing a mammoth target of 246 runs.
- Travis Head Inconsistency– Last season was one man show by Travis Head, who led SRH to such big platforms with his hard-hitting performances an=long with a subtle support of Abhishek Sharma, who looked fair in this season. However, in 2the 025 season, Head did not even score a single Half-century, which resulted in a fall back of the team entirely as his dependence on SRH is enough.
- Spinners’ Inaccuracy– The spinners were not able to take wickets in the middle over phase for SRH and instead bowled expensive overs, which gave an extra edge to the opponents.
Ambidextrous bowler Kamendu Mendis was the star player for SRH with the bat, bowl, and in the field with his excellence. Zeeshan was a promising leg spinner who was expected to spread the magic on the pitch with his variations, but Zeeshan was not able to deliver important setbacks for SRH.
