Sunil Gavaskar on his quick decision to obtain MS Dhoni’s autograph: “As Soon As I Heard…”

Sunil Gavaskar, a member of the IPL commentary team, ran over to the wicketkeeper-batter as MS Dhoni and the CSK players were doing a lap around the Chepauk to hand out prizes to the fans, and he quickly got his autograph on his shirt.

MS Dhoni, the captain of the Chennai Super Kings, was captured on camera sharing a touching moment with the late cricket great Sunil Gavaskar after his team lost to the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2023 match. Gavaskar, who is currently a member of the IPL 2023 commentary team, ran up to the wicketkeeper-batter and got his autograph on his shirt while Dhoni and the CSK players were doing a lap around the Chepauk to distribute goodies to the fans. The two then exchanged hugs.

Later, Gavaskar acknowledged that he wasn’t ready for it and that as soon as he found out, he borrowed a pen to get Dhoni’s autograph.

In terms of the match, unless they make the playoffs, Dhoni’s CSK were soundly defeated by KKR in what would be their final home game of the IPL 2023.

When chasing a target of 145, KKR triumphed by six wickets and nine balls thanks to half-centuries from captain Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh. After losing their first three wickets for 33 runs in the fifth over, KKR set up the chase with Rana’s unbeaten 57 off 44 balls and Rinku’s 54 off 43 deliveries.
