In the much-anticipated SRH vs CSK IPL 2025 clash, Sunrisers Hyderabad finally registered their first win in Chennai, outplaying Chennai Super Kings at their home. A crucial toss win and clever use of a dry Chepauk pitch helped SRH grab victory by 5 wickets. Harshal Patel gets awarded player of the match for his 4-wicket haul performance.
SRH’s stable batting innings
Openers’ struggle continues for SRH, where the pinch-hitter Abhishek Sharma got a duck and Travis Head was dismissed at 19. Ishan Kishan played an anchor innings from his end, scoring 44 runs. Aniket Verma threw his wicket to Noor Ahmed on a googly, and Klassen also got out cheap at just 7 runs.
Kamendu Mendis took the responsibility on his end and built a stable partnership with Nitish Kumar Reddy. Both ended the chase on a great note with 8 balls to spare.
Harshal Patel Tops Bowling Masterclass with Four-Wicket Haul

Harshal Patel was the game-changer, taking advantage of the slow pitch with the change of pace and accurate short stuff. He came back with fine figures of 4-0-28-4, picking up the crucial wicket of MS Dhoni among others. His variations and grip were impressive, particularly in the middle overs, in which he maintained the run rate in check.
Cummins’ Discipline and Kamindu’s Brilliance Choke CSK

SRH skipper Pat Cummins implemented a disciplined bowling strategy, taking two key wickets, including the settled Ayush Mhatre. He bowled two key death overs — the 16th and 18th — without giving away a single boundary, returning 4-0-21-2.
Kamindu Mendis impressed once again with his ambidextrous bowling. He got rid of Ravindra Jadeja and took a spectacular catch at long-off to get rid of Dewald Brevis, displaying athleticism and alertness.
CSK Batting Struggles Despite Promising Brevis Knock

Chennai Super Kings’ innings was full of flashes of brilliance but lacked substance. Dewald Brevis impressed with a scorching 42 off 25, featuring four sixes, three of which came within the space of one over by Kamindu. He appeared to be in sublime touch before being caught out in a magnificent take that tipped the balance in SRH’s way.
Ayush Mhatre, playing only his second IPL match, provided a lively beginning after Shaik Rasheed fell in the first ball. But after the fall of Brevis, CSK’s batting disintegrated before the climbing short balls and variations from SRH’s towering bowlers.
Final Flourish Missing as CSK Set Below-Par Target
Despite a modest 17-run last-wicket partnership between Deepak Hooda and Khaleel Ahmed, Chennai did not have the finishing power to get close to a competitive score. SRH bowlers remained disciplined, and as a result, CSK never got that last push they were looking for.
Along with batting woes, many blunders were made with the ball as well by CSK. Noor bowled 2 no-balls at a time, where 4 overs were remaining on the board with almost a run-a-ball score.
