
On Sunday, February 26, the Isle of Man recorded the lowest total in T20 cricket history. Carl Haartman’s squad was knocked out for 10 in 8.4 overs against Spain at the La Manga Club Bottom Ground.
The previous record was held by the Sydney Thunder, who scored 15 runs against the Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League season 2022-23. (BBL). In terms of the Isle of Man, seven of their batters failed to reach double figures.
Joseph Burrows led the team in scoring with four runs off seven balls. Atif Mehmood was the standout among the Spanish bowlers, finishing with figures of 4-2-6-4. Mohammad Kamran and Lorne Burns both took three and two wickets.
The Isle of Man also had the lowest score in T20I history. They broke Turkey’s four-year record of being bowled out for 21 against the Czech Republic in Ilfov County in 2019.
The previous low score for the Isle of Man was 66 versus Spain on February 25. The Isle of Man has played 16 T20Is so far, winning eight and losing seven. One match finished in a tie.
They won all three games against Cyprus and twice against Estonia. They also defeated Romania, Serbia, and Turkey on one occasion.
The Isle of Man fell 0-5 in their six-match T20I series against Spain. They lost the first match by an 81-run margin, and the second match was rained out. Spain won the series 3-0 after winning the third and fourth games by eight and six wickets, respectively.
Following that, Spain won the fifth T20I by seven wickets, capping off a comfortable victory.
