The former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi gave a controversial piece of advice to Virat Kohli on his retirement call, over which the Indian cricketer Amit Mishra slammed him. All the Indian cricket fans and followers mocked the veteran Pakistani finisher, but Amit Mishra wrote a special message on his official Twitter handle by tagging Shahid Afridi. Afridi previously also gave controversial statements regarding many Indian players, especially Gautam Gambhir and MS Dhoni for which he was brutally trolled on the Internet.
But this time, apart from fans and followers of Indian cricket, the former leg spinner Amit Mishra gave a bitter answer to Shahid Afridi. He wrote in his tweet that, “Dear Afridi, some people retire once so please spare Virat Kohli from all this”. This Tweet from Mishra trends in the top 10 posts on Twitter yesterday and took almost every social media platform by a storm.
But many individuals criticized Shahid Afridi by not getting familiar with the background of the talk. In a recent interview with the Pakistan news channel Samaa TV, Afridi gave controversial advice to the kingpin, Virat Kohli. While asked about Kohli, he said, “The way Virat has played, the start that he had to his career, he had overcome struggles and work hard before he made a name for himself. He is a champion and I believe there comes a stage when you are headed towards retirement. At such a stage, the aim should be to go out on a high”.
Just a few days before the reports came that Virat Kohli along with Ravindra Jadeja can get excluded from the Indian T20I team, as they are being targeted for the longer formats of the game. This is the most important thing when it comes to predict the future of Virat Kohli in the T20Is.
Because his early retirement doesn’t seem to be possible as he recently smashed of fantastic hundred against Afghanistan in the last match of Asia Cup. And if he will be discouraged by excluding from the team then is mindset can get affected by it. He was completely out of from the year 2019 where he stamped his last International century against Bangladesh. As the fitness and the stroke play Kohli has, he would definitely willing to be in the team for next 5 years at least.
The words of suggestion which created a dispute, was the whole statement of Afridi, in which he said, “It shouldn’t reach a stage where you are dropped from the team. Instead, retirement should be announced when you are at your peak. It seldom happens though. Very few players, especially cricketers from the Asian region make that decision, but I feel when Virat does it, he will do in a good way and probably end his career in style much like the way he began his career.”
Dear Afridi, some people retire only once so please spare Virat Kohli from all this. 🙏🏽 https://t.co/PHlH1PJh2r
