RCB suffered an unexpected loss in yesterday’s WPL match against UP Warriorz after a super-over, which was also the first super-over in the tournament’s history. RCB batted first, scoring a total of 180 runs in 6 wickets. However, Sophie Ecclestone played a crucial role in taking the game to a super-over after hitting two sixes and a boundary in the last over.
Despite Ellyse Perry‘s magnificent game in the match, the captain Smriti Mandhana decided to bat in the super-over, which was a strategic decision that puzzled the fans. Ellysse Perry scored a total of 90 runs in 56 balls despite recovering from a hip injury. Fans posted on social media sympathizing with her. One such fan took to their X account and wrote, ” Literally in pain yet gave her everything to RCB back to back only to be left heartbroken in the end. Heart goes out to Ellyse Perry 💔”

Smriti Mandhana batted in the super-over after a low score but was left disappointed after losing the match. She apologized to her 6 Ellyse Perry and said in a statement, “Always good to have Pez back bowling. An all-rounder like her, she is one of the greatest in women’s cricket. Brilliant to watch. As a team, really have to tell her sorry…how could we not win that game for her,”
“Disappointing to be on the losing side today. Did a lot of things right, throughout the batting and the bowling innings. These things happen, and we will take it and come back stronger. I have been very positive throughout the tournament but went into a shell a little bit. We have a few days, we will work on it and come back stronger,” she added.
