
Pakistan’s Mohammed Rizwan scored the slowest fifty in T20 World Cup history. At the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York, during the T20 World Cup 2024 Group A match against Canada, wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan needed 52 balls to complete his half-century.
Batting first, Canada scored 106/7 in 20 overs as Aaron Johnson scored 52 off 44 balls. Pakistan’s Rizwan and Saim Ayub opened the batting together; Ayub was later dismissed after scoring just six runs. Rizwan and captain Babar Azam combined to put on 63 runs for the second wicket.
Fakhar Zaman scored four more runs after Azam’s dismissal. With seven wickets and fifteen balls to spare, Pakistan won with the help of Rizwan (53), Usman Khan (2), and other players.

South Africa’s David Miller recorded the slowest fifty in T20 World Cup history.
During the T20 World Cup 2024 Group D encounter against the Netherlands at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York, David Miller took 50 balls to score the Slowest Fifty in T20 World Cup history.
Earlier, South Africa restricted the Netherlands to 103/9 in 20 overs thanks to Ottneil Bartman’s 4/11 and two wickets each from Marco Jansen and Anrich Nortje.
On a challenging New York pitch, South Africa were reduced to 12/4 in 4.3 overs in reply.
Batting is at number six. Later, David Miller came to the crease along with Tristan Stubbs. South Africa tied the scores with Miller and Stubbs putting together a crucial 65-run partnership.
Miller remained unbeaten on 59 off 51 balls to guide South Africa to a four-wicket win in New York, while Stubbs was dismissed for 33. Miller smashed four sixes and three fours in his game-winning effort.
Devon Smith Slowest Fifty
Earlier, the slowest half-century in T20 World Cup history was scored by former West Indies cricketer Devon Smith during his 49-ball half-century against Bangladesh at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg in 2007.
Devon Smith scored 51 runs off 52 balls in a group match during the first T20 World Cup in 2007. Shivnarine Chanderpaul (37), Dwayne Smith (29) and Marlon Samuels (27) contributed to West Indies’ total of 164/8 in the allotted overs. Devon Smith’s innings included six fours.

Later, however, Bangladesh managed to chase down the score in eighteen overs to secure a six-wicket win in Johannesburg.
Australia’s David Hussey stands fourth in the undesirable list of Slowest Fifty in T20 World Cup history.
David Hussey smashed a 49-ball half-century against arch-rivals England in the T20 World Cup 2010 final at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados. Australia batted first and scored 147/6 in 20 overs, thanks to David Hussey’s 59 off 54 balls and Cameron White’s 30 off 19 balls.
