Birth and Early Life
Shubman Singh Gill was born on September 8, 1999, in Fazilka, a city in Punjab, India. Belonging to a cricket-loving family, Shubman’s father, Lakhwinder Singh, recognized his son’s prodigious talent and took the initiative to nurture it. The family converted a part of their farmhouse into a cricket practice area, where Shubman’s love of cricket truly began. Under his father’s guidance, young Shubman’s cricketing skills began to take shape.

Domestic Career
Shubman Gill made his first-class debut on November 27, 2017, representing the Punjab Ranji team. In his early appearances, he made a notable impact, notching up a half-century in the first match and an impressive 129 runs in the second against Bengal.
Gill’s cricketing power earned him a spot in India’s squad for the 2018–19 Deodhar Trophy in October 2018. During a match against India, he shown his skills by scoring an unbeaten century, a performance that played a important role in India’s qualification for the final. Later, in December 2018, during Punjab’s Ranji Trophy match against Tamil Nadu, Gill achieved a milestone in his career by scoring his double century in first-class cricket, 268 runs.
IPL Career
After his performances in the World Cup and various domestic competitions, Shubman Gill taken attention from the cricketing world. As a result, he was launched by the Kolkata Knight Riders for a sum of 1.8 crore rupees during the 2018 Indian Premier League auction. As of now, Gill has participated in 27 IPL matches, amassing a total of 499 runs with an impressive average of 33.26. He has recorded four half-centuries, with his highest score being 76. While he is still in the process of establishing himself within the team, the 2020 season holds the promise of being the breakthrough season for this talented young cricketer. And then he joined Gujarat Titans in 2022. In preparation for the 2022 IPL auction, Shubman Gill was enlisted by the recently established Gujarat Titans franchise for a substantial sum of 8 crore rupees. International Career
One day International (ODI)
Shubman Gill’s remarkable run-scoring performances in both U-19 and domestic cricket, he earned a place in India’s squad for the limited-overs segment of their series against New Zealand in January 2019. On January 31, 2019, Gill marked his One Day International (ODI) debut against New Zealand in the fourth ODI match of the series held at Seddon Park in Hamilton. However, his debut innings saw him only manage 9 runs during his 21-ball stay at the crease, ultimately falling to Trent Boult.
Test Cricket
Moving to his Test career, following a stellar double century against the West Indies A side in the Caribbean, Shubman Gill received a swift call-up to India’s Test squad for their series against South Africa. However, with established players already in the team, the young cricketer faced challenges in breaking into the playing XI, and he returned without making his debut in the longest format. Nevertheless, in February 2020, Gill was once again included in India’s Test squad, this time for their series against New Zealand Cricket. In February 2023, he scored t20I century in front of New Zealand.
