The six SA20 franchises have submitted the list of retained players ahead of the auctions. These retentions have been made for the second season of South Africa’s domestic franchise-based tournament. Cricket South Africa (CSA) will be holding the auctions for the next season on the 27th of September.
As the SA20 revealed the list of pre-signed and retained players ahead of the second season, fifteen auction picks will be available across the six clubs in the SA20 auction, in addition to the new Rookie player that each franchise must choose.
Rookie Player
The rookie player must be a South African who is younger than 22 and has never participated in the SA20. In addition to the rookie player and auction picks, each organisation is also entitled to one wildcard pick, which must be revealed before December 30. The only two teams that have declared their wildcard selections are MI and Sunrisers, who have signed England pacers Jofra Archer and Craig Overton, respectively. The maximum roster size is 19, and each team must have at least 10 South African players, a maximum of seven players from outside the country, and one South African rookie player.
