Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya Ace Yo-Yo Test; Rahul and Bumrah Among Asia Cup Squad Members to Skip

Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya successfully clear the yo-yo fitness test as part of India’s preparatory camp for the Asia Cup. KL Rahul and others likely to skip the test due to various reasons.

Top cricket stars, including Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya, underwent the yo-yo fitness test at KSCA-Alur grounds in Bengaluru. This took place on the first day of India’s training camp for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023. Kohli had shared his test score (17.2) on Instagram, causing the BCCI to advise players against revealing confidential information publicly.

Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya have also passed the yo-yo test. Although their exact scores are undisclosed, sources confirm their success. The passing score for Indian cricketers is currently 16.5. It’s important to note that test results can vary from day to day. The Asia Cup-bound players who missed recent series focused on fitness drills during the six-day camp. The Indian team will head to Sri Lanka on August 30 for the tournament.

KL Rahul and a few others won’t participate in the yo-yo test. Rahul, recovering from an injury, was part of fitness drills but didn’t take the test. The team management is satisfied with his batting fitness, but his readiness for wicketkeeping remains uncertain. Rahul might miss the initial phase of the Asia Cup.

Shreyas Iyer, who’s also returning from injury, received clearance from NCA authorities. Players from Dublin, Ireland, like Jasprit Bumrah, Sanju Samson, Prasidh Krishna, and Tilak Varma, are unlikely to take the yo-yo test. They will focus on skill-set training once they join the camp.

During the six-day camp, players’ medical conditions and fitness levels will be assessed. Parameters like lipid profile, blood sugar, uric acid, calcium, Vitamin B12 and D, creatinine, testosterone, and Dexa tests will be conducted.

After initial fitness and medical tests, players will engage in match simulations under the guidance of head coach Rahul Dravid and batting coach Vikram Rathour.
