India’s dynamic all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja, may be sidelined for the second Test against England in Visakhapatnam, grappling with a hamstring injury sustained during the fourth day of the first Test in Hyderabad, according to recent reports.
The journey of Jadeja’s scan results from Hyderabad to medical institutes in Mumbai has cast doubt on his availability for the second Test. Although the initial assessment hints at a hamstring pull rather than a tear, there is an air of uncertainty surrounding his return.
Despite initial optimism, Jadeja’s reaction to the injury while walking back hasn’t been encouraging. While the assessment leans towards a hamstring pull, nothing is conclusive. A hopeful note suggests that if he misses the second Test, he should be fit for the third Test.
Coach Rahul Dravid, caught amid uncertainty, acknowledged the lack of information on Jadeja’s fitness. “I honestly haven’t had a chance to speak to the physio as yet. Once I get back, I’ll speak to him and see what it is about,” said Dravid, reflecting on the suspense surrounding Jadeja’s participation.
If Ravindra Jadeja is deemed unfit, the talented Kuldeep Yadav stands as a potential replacement. However, Jadeja’s absence would be deeply felt, given his impactful batting and exceptional fielding skills. In the first innings, he emerged as India’s highest scorer with 87 runs, showcasing his all-round prowess.
The impending journey to Visakhapatnam on Tuesday remains uncertain for the Indian team as they grapple with the potential void left by Jadeja’s absence.
