During an intriguing yet rain-affected IPL 2025 match on April 18, Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Rajat Patidar completes 1000 IPL Runs.
Though RCB had lost the match against Punjab Kings (PBKS) via the DLS procedure, Patidar made history as he became the second-quickest Indian to have achieved 1000 runs in the history of the IPL.
Rajat Patidar’s Historic Milestone
Rajat Patidar Completes 1000 IPL Runs In IPL In Only 30 Innings
Rajat Patidar, the captain of RCB, processed 1000 IPL runs in just 30 innings, with him becoming the second-fastest Indian to reach this milestone and surpassing Sachin Tendulkar as the second-fastest Indian to process 1000 runs (31 innings).
Now, the only Indian faster than Patidar is Sai Sudharsan of the Gujarat Titans, who made it to 1,000 IPL runs in just 25 innings.
Quickest Indians to 1000 IPL Runs:
Player | Innings Taken |
---|---|
Sai Sudharsan | 25 |
Rajat Patidar | 30 |
Sachin Tendulkar | 31 |
Ruturaj Gaikwad | 31 |
Tilak Varma | 33 |
The rain-abbreviated game was reduced to 14 overs per team courtesy of the Duckworth-Lewis (D/L) rule. RCB batted first and reached 95 runs, once again due to Tim David’s rapid 50 from a cluster of big hits. It wasn’t enough, and Punjab Kings chased down a target of 96 with ease. Patidar’s achievement became the highlight of the match despite RCB’s loss.
Next Fixture: RCB vs PBKS – April 20, 2025
The two sides are all set to face each other once again on April 20 at Chandigarh, where RCB will be seeking a comeback. With Rajat Patidar in good form, RCB fans can await a powerhouse performance.
