In a significant development for cricket enthusiasts in Australia, the International Cricket Council (ICC) declared on Monday that Amazon’s Prime Video has successfully secured the four-year broadcasting rights for global cricket tournaments, encompassing both men’s and women’s events in the country.
Previously held by Foxtel and Kayo, the ICC event rights in Australia, including the recent Men’s ODI World Cup, were broadcast by Nine Network. However, the new deal signifies a shift, eliminating free-to-air matches of ICC tournaments in Australia.
Geoff Allardice, ICC Chief Executive, expressed excitement about the four-year partnership, stating, “The recently concluded Men’s Cricket World Cup has highlighted the interest and passion for ICC Events across the globe, and especially in Australia where cricket fans have enjoyed the recent success of their men’s and women’s teams.”
Under this exclusive partnership, Prime Video Australia will stream all men’s and women’s events, including the coveted Men’s and Women’s Cricket World Cups, T20 World Cups, Champions Trophy, U19s, and the World Test Championship Final.

Starting in January 2024 with the Men’s U19 World Cup in South Africa, the deal covers streaming rights for 448 live games from 2024 to 2027. Cricket enthusiasts across Australia will have exclusive access to all matches in every tournament of elite ICC competition across all cricket formats, at no extra cost to a Prime membership.
Hushidar Kharas, head of Prime Video Australia and New Zealand, highlighted the significance of the Cricket World Cup, stating, “Over the next four years, Prime members in Australia will be able to watch their favourite cricket teams and players compete for the game’s biggest prize, on demand, on the device of their choice—exclusively on Prime Video.”
In addition to live tournament coverage, Prime Video’s commitment to cricket fans extends with the announcement of a third season of “The Test” documentary. This season will cover Australia’s World Test Championship Final triumph and their successful defense of the men’s Ashes in England earlier this year.
