PCB responds to backlash by adding Imran Khan to cricket achievement video

Following criticism, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) releases an updated version of its cricket achievement video featuring Imran Khan. The original video had omitted Imran Khan due to length constraints. Learn more about the PCB’s response and the significance of including the 1992 World Cup-winning captain.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) made changes to a video after receiving strong criticism for leaving out Imran Khan, the captain who led the country to victory in the 1992 World Cup, from a video celebrating Pakistan’s cricket accomplishments. The PCB explained that they had to shorten the video, which resulted in some important clips being left out. However, they have now released a corrected version with Imran Khan included.

PCB launched a promotional campaign for the upcoming Cricket World Cup 2023 and shared a video on August 14. This video aimed to highlight significant moments and players in Pakistan’s cricket history since their first international game in 1952. However, this initial version faced criticism from former players and fans for not featuring Imran Khan, who is not only a respected figure in cricket but also served as Pakistan’s Prime Minister from 2018 to 2022.

Wasim Akram, a member of the 1992 World Cup-winning team, expressed his disappointment on social media, urging PCB to apologize and remove the video. He emphasized that Imran Khan’s role in shaping Pakistan’s cricket legacy should not be overlooked.

Imran Khan, known as one of Pakistan’s finest cricketers and a great all-rounder, led the team to victory in the 1992 World Cup. He later ventured into politics and became Pakistan’s Prime Minister in 2018, but was removed from office in the following year through a parliamentary vote of no-confidence.

The updated video now features Imran Khan and aims to better represent Pakistan’s cricket history and achievements.
