It has been 44 years since any country has hosted the ODI World Cup solely. In 1975 and 1979 England was the country to host both world cups because there was very little interaction of this game and only one Sponsor(Prudential) that time but after two successful tournaments Wales became the first country to share the hosting venues for the tournament. 

Before this ongoing World Cup India has hosted 3 times(1987, 1996, 2011) with the help of their neighboring countries, and this is the first time when India is solely hosting any world cup and also became the second country to do so. Cricket in India is equal to money, Indians love cricket and because of that BCCI has become the richest cricket board in the world. India generates the highest revenue for ICC as India’s most powerful cricketing nation. In this article I am going to discuss why India came to host this ICC World without the help of any neighboring country. 

Biggest fan base

Being the most populated country in the world and the strongest cricketing nation, India has the largest number of fans in the country. Indian fans are crazy for Cricket. In terms of fans India is the best country to host this type of big tournaments. Along with India Australia and England are also one the biggest countries in terms of fans but due to population India wins the race and from last ten years India has proved that they are capable of hosting any ICC trophy. IPL has also played a big role in convincing ICC to give sole hosting to India. Indian fans are not only mad about their team players but they love to watch big players from the whole world. 

Sponsorships

Due to having the biggest fan base India attracts tons of sponsors to throw money at any big Cricket tournaments. Whenever there is a big sporting event, there is a gathering of sponsors. You can only guess from this that India is the only country where players being auctioned in any sport in the whole world. Brands are ready to invest tons of money for this game in India and that makes ICC think about making India the Sole host of the world cup.

Not only Indian brands but also multi national and foreign brands put their money when there is any sports event happening in India. There are many countries who’s cricket team is being sponsored by some Indian brands so we can say that in terms of making money no other country can beat India. 

Venues 

Most of the time host countries share their hosting with neighboring countries due to not having enough good stadiums to play an international game and if they have good venues they don’t have a powerful system to organize grounds. India has the biggest cricket ground in the world and also has the best to play on. In other countries rain interrupts in almost every match of world cups for example the 2019 world cup which was hosted by England and Wales. We’ve seen so many matches washed off due to rain, but in India we barely see rain coming at the time when the world cup is mostly used to happen. Indian grounds are well organized and  managed by high technology equipment which help players to play comfortably.
