India and England will face each other at lucknow in the 29th game of this world cup. India is looking strong in this championship. They haven’t lost any game yet and on the other hand England is going through a very bad phase in this World cup they’ve won only one game out of five which is a very disappointing performance for defending champions. No doubt England has played very poorly in this world cup but we can not ignore how good the english side is they can turn the table at any time, so beating the English team won’t be that easy for Indian players.
Both teams have played 104 ODI games together and India has won 57 out of them, England has managed to grab 44 games, these two teams have faced each other in eight games in the world cup where England is leading this competition with 4-3. Last time when India hosted the World Cup then the match against England resulted in a tie. England is the oldest rival of India, before independence, the Indian team had toured England and that was the first time when the Indian team had gone and played a match in another country. England brings cricket to India and from then India has conquered this sport. There are many batters who’ve scored a lot of runs in this rivalry so let’s take a look at the top three of them.
MS Dhoni

India’s most successful captain and wicketkeeper batter MS Dhoni is leading this race by scoring 1546 runs in 44 innings against England between 2006 to 2019. He made only one triple digit score(134) in front of the English team which came in 2017 at Barabati stadium, this is also his last hundred in ODI career. He has batted against England with the average of 46.84. MS owns 34 sixes which is highest by any Indian batter against England. He is one of the greatest players India has ever produced. MS Dhoni is the only captain in the world who’s won three ICC trophies(2011 World Cup, 2007 T20 World Cup and 2013 ICC Champions trophy) for his nation.
Yuvraaj Singh
Former all rounder Yuvraj Singh is the second highest run getter in this list. Between 2002 to 2017 he has managed to score 1523 runs in 36 innings. In this stat he has made four centuries and 150 which came in the same game where Dhoni made 134 is the highest of them. He has made these runs with the average of 50.76 and the strike rate of 101.60. Yuvraj has also sent 18 English batters to the pavilion. He was the top performer when India lifted the World Cup trophy in 2011 that he was awarded as player of the tournament. He has scored 362 runs in nine games of that tournament and picked wickets. It will be delightful to watch which battery will do this year what Yuvraj has done in 2011.
Sachin Tendulkar
Although Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar has been the world’s top batsman, in this list his position is at number three. He scored 1455 runs in 37 matches played between 1990 and 2011, with two brilliant centuries in his name. While batting in Bengaluru in 2011, Sachin had scored 120 runs, which is his highest score against this opposition team. He batted against the British with an average of 44.09. Sachin is the only batsman in the world who has touched the figure of 100 centuries in international cricket, out of which he has scored 49 in ODIs. Will Virat Kohli be able to break Sachin’s record of most ODI centuries in this World Cup?
