There are so many players in this ODI World Cup who might be playing their last World Cup such as David Warner, Mushfiqur Rahim, Angelo Mathews, etc, but it is just a prediction. Slowly World cricket is evolving and a new generation of players are replacing senior players. Still, there are some players whom we have been watching for many years making their efforts on the ground and keeping alive the memories for cricket fans related to them. 

Some of those cricketers have already retired from other formats and some have come back from retirements. We’ve seen MS Dhoni announcing retirement after a year of playing his last game in the 2019 ODI World Cup leaving his fans in shock who were expecting his farewell game. This World Cup also could be someone’s last World Cup, but there are three players who are playing this tournament and have announced their retirement which is unexpected because there are players who have been playing for more than 15 years. Naveen Ul Haq

Afghanistan’s 24-year-old seamer Naveen Ul Haq has made a statement to retire after the tournament at the age of 24. He didn’t clarify the reasons for his retirement but some rumors say that he wasn’t t focused on T20 format and leagues. He has played only 13 ODI games yet where he picked 20 wickets. He has appeared in six ODIWorld Cup games and dismissed six batters. He is one of the best bowlers Afghanistan has. Naveen has announced his retirement too early, Afghanistan lac with fast bowling, and in this case, Naveen ul Haq gives so much strength to the bowling lineup. 

Quinton de Kock 

South African legendary opener Quinton de Kock has surprisingly announced that he will be retiring after this edition of the World Cup. Quinton de Kock is leading the scoring board of this tournament with 550 runs in eight games. He has scored four centuries in this tournament which is the second-highest number of centuries in one edition of the ODI World Cup. Quinton is in great form and he is just 30 years old so he could play more than five years from here. He has played his first ODI game before 10 years and since then he has played 153 ODI games where he scored more than 6500 runs with 21 centuries. He has already retired from the longer format in 2021 and now he’ll disappear from the ODI setup after this tournament. 

David Willey 

  England’s component fast bowler David Willey is the third and oldest player to retire in this list. 33-year-old David Willey has announced his retirement from international cricket after this World Cup. Expressing disappointment over not getting a central contract from the England Cricket Board, he has decided to retire. David Willey has played 72 matches in ODI and 43 matches in T20I in which he has taken 97 and 51 wickets respectively. In this World Cup so far, David Willey has played five matches and taken 8 wickets. Willey is one of England’s most consistent bowlers. If he manages to take 3 wickets against Pakistan, he will complete 100 wickets in ODIs. Unfortunately, due to the central contract, we will have to say goodbye to a great bowler from international cricket so soon.
