New Zealand has announced its team for the three-Test series against India. Tom Latham has got the captaincy of the New Zealand team on this tour due to the destination of Tim Southee from captaincy during the time of the IND vs BAN test series. Southee wanted to focus on his performance more and felt like the added responsibilities of leading would hamper his major role in the team.

Concerns Regarding Kane Williamson’s Injury

In the test squad of New Zealand, Kane Williamson’s name was also added but the team’s legendary batsman and former captain Kane Williamson is not coming with his team to India tour this time. He had an injury before the series.

He is currently out of the team due to a groin injury and with that, Mark Chapman has got a chance for the first time in New Zealand’s Test team. After looking at the condition of the injury, it’s quite doubtful that Kane Williamson’s play in the Test series against India. This test series between India and New Zealand is starting from 16 October.

To talk about the venue, the first test match of the series between India and New Zealand will be played in Bengaluru from 16 October. However, the question arises how will the New Zealand team be able to compete with the strong Indian team without its veteran player Kane Williamson this time? Kane Williamson plays a significant role in the team but unfortunately was injured in the second test match against Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile, now the New Zealand Cricket Board has given an update on the injury of its veteran player and said “Due to this injury, Williamson may be late in flying for the India tour. This time, uncapped player Mark Chapman has been included in the team as a substitute in his place.”

New Zealand test squad Michael Bracewell selected for one test

Recently, the tour of Sri Lanka of the New Zealand team ended on a bad note for the Kiwis. Now after this, the team is going to play a series of 3 test matches with the Indian team who have a winning streak of home test series since 2013 and recently defeated Bangladesh brutally.  The New Zealand team is currently very upset due to the injury of their veteran batsman Kane Williamson as his role became much more crucial to the team in this series. On the other hand, Michael Bracewell will be available for New Zealand for only one test.

Michael Bracewell will go back to New Zealand due to the birth of his child. To replace him, Ish Sodhi has been selected in the team for the second and third test matches. Against India, the NZ team is almost the same as the one that toured against Sri Lanka recently and there is no significant change in their squad too. The second test match of this test series will be played in Pune from October 24 and the third match will be played in Mumbai from November 1.
