Nat Sciver-Brunt Back on Top: England Skipper Takes No.1 ODI Batter Rank

England skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt has climbed back to the No. 1 spot in the ICC Women’s ODI Batting Rankings, as per the latest update released on Tuesday, July 29. She overtook India’s Smriti Mandhana thanks to a strong showing in the recent three-match ODI series.

Even though India won the series 2-1, Nat Sciver-Brunt stood out with 160 runs at an average of 53.33. Her best came in the deciding game at Durham, where she scored a brilliant 98 off 105 balls. This performance helped her collect 731 rating points, just three ahead of Mandhana.

This marks the third time in Sciver-Brunt’s career that she’s held the top spot. She previously reached No. 1 between July 2023 – April 2024 and again from June – December 2024.

Nat Sciver-Brunt kicks Smriti Mandhana off the throne

Smriti Mandhana had a steady but not standout series, finishing with 115 runs across the three matches. She didn’t score a half-century, which cost her the top spot in the rankings. She now holds second place with 728 points.

Still, Mandhana remains one of India’s most reliable batters across formats. In ODIs, she has racked up 4,588 runs in 105 matches at an average of 46.34, with 11 centuries and 31 fifties.

In T20Is, she’s currently ranked No. 3 and has scored 3,982 runs in 153 games with a strike rate of 123.97. She’s also made a strong mark in Test cricket, averaging 57.18 from just seven matches, including two centuries.

India captain Harmanpreet Kaur made a big jump in the ODI batting rankings, rising ten spots to 11th after her match-winning century in the third ODI. Jemimah Rodrigues also moved up two places to 13th thanks to her consistent batting in the series.

Ireland’s Orla Prendergast Shines with Bat and Ball

Ireland’s Orla Prendergast impressed in the series against Zimbabwe, especially in the second ODI, where she scored an unbeaten 67. Her all-around performance pushed her up 12 spots to joint 22nd in the ODI batting rankings. She also cracked the top 10 list of ODI all-rounders, now sitting at No. 10.

Deepti Sharma continues to be India’s highest-ranked ODI bowler at No. 4, despite taking just one wicket in the series. No other Indian bowler is currently in the top 10. England’s Sophie Ecclestone remains at the top of the ODI bowling rankings.

Irish Players Making Waves in T20 Rankings

In T20Is, Ireland’s Gaby Lewis moved up four places to 14th after scoring two half-centuries against Zimbabwe. Arlene Kelly also climbed four spots and now holds 30th place among bowlers in the T20I rankings.
