Mohammed Shami gave a statement on his confirmed spot in the playing squad for the IND vs AUS BGT trophy.

Recently, captain Rohit Sharma gave a big update on Mohammed Shami’s fitness and said that the experienced fast bowler is still not fully fit, which is why it is difficult for him to go on the Australia tour. Now Shami himself has proved him wrong while answering the question of journalists at a function.

Let us tell you that, just the next day after Rohit Sharma’s statement, Mohammed Shami was seen doing bowling net practice with full force at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, after which various updates came on his fitness. Shami has not been able to play a single match since the final of the ODI World Cup 2023 due to an ankle injury and is ready to return after almost a year.

Recently, Shami interacted with journalists during an event organized by Eugenics Hair Sciences in Gurugram. Meanwhile, the veteran fast bowler made it completely clear that he is now completely pain-free and wants to play some domestic matches before the Australia tour to get back to match fitness. Shami also revealed that he also bowled with a full run-up for the first time since recovery.

Mohammed Shami said

Yesterday I felt great, before that, I was bowling with half a run-up because I couldn’t put too much pressure on my body. Yesterday, we decided that I would bowl properly and I gave my 100%. It felt great, the results were also good. Hopefully, I will be back on track soon.

However, Mohammed Shami has exactly one month to try and get fit for the first Test against Australia starting on November 22.

Mohammed Shami said:

The Australia series is still far away. I only want to focus on how I keep myself fit and how strong I can be before I go there. I know what kind of attack we need for that Test series, so it is better that I spend some more time on the field before I leave. If I get fit and I get a gap of eight to ten days, it would be better if I play one or two domestic matches before going to Australia.

He further said:

I don’t know when I will be able to play next, but the day I feel comfortable bowling 20-30 overs and getting permission from the doctors, I will rush to play the match. I want to spend as much time as possible on the field before leaving for the Australia series.
