Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami has strongly condemned former Pakistan player Hasan Raza for making baseless allegations against India during the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023.
Raza, speaking on a Pakistani channel, alleged that India was provided a different set of balls by the ICC and BCCI, suggesting favoritism. He claimed that the ball behaved differently when India bowled, insinuating manipulation.
Shami responded via Instagram, expressing his disappointment and advised Raza to heed the words of legendary Pakistani pacer Wasim Akram.
Additionally, Wasim Akram disapproved of Raza’s comments, emphasizing the need for accountability and sensibility in making such statements.
Raza persisted in his accusations after India’s victory over South Africa, claiming manipulation in the Decision Review System (DRS) and implying foul play during the match, specifically concerning a DRS decision involving Ravindra Jadeja’s bowling.
The statements made by Raza have caused controversy and drawn criticism from Shami, Akram, and other quarters of the cricketing community.
