Mumbai Indians is one of the most successful teams in IPL, having won five times. However, they don’t seem to be in their usual form this season as they’ve lost three out of four matches in IPL 2025 and sit at the bottom of the points table in third-last position, followed by CSK and SRH.
They’ve had a challenging start to the 2025 season, although the news of Jasprit Bumrah’s return to the squad has sent waves of excitement among fans and players, highlighting the potential turn of events in future matches.

Jasprit Bumrah has been out of action since January due to a back injury he sustained during the final test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Sydney. His absence deeply impacted MI, which struggled to find its momentum without him. On 6 April 2025, Mumbai Indians confirmed Bumrah’s return to the squad through their social media platforms, captioning the post, “READY TO ROAR.”

Jasprit Bumrah’s rehabilitation at the BCCI’s Center of Excellence in Bengaluru has been a long process. He underwent a back surgery and received clearance from the BCCI’s medical staff to join the MI squad.
When Will Jasprit Bumrah Be Back?
It is unlikely that he will be playing in the upcoming match against RCB on 7 April. While his exact debut date is uncertain, he is expected to return against DC on 13 April or SRH on 17 April 2025.

SRH all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy expressed his excitement about facing Bumrah in the upcoming matches. He said, “I would be grateful for the challenge. He is one of the best bowlers in the world right now, and facing him would be an exciting contest. If I manage to score some runs against him, I would be very happy. Competing against top bowlers like Bumrah is what makes the game exciting.”
Jasprit Bumrah’s return to the Mumbai Indians squad is a significant development for the team and could be the beginning of their redemption. Although the road to glory will be challenging, Bumrah’s return could be the turning point they need.
