Until his retirement in 1996, Manoj was a lower-order batsman and right-arm medium-pace bowler for his India cricket team, and he also started the innings every once in a while. Later it was held by the BCCI that Prabhakar has an active involvement in match-fixing and has been barred from playing for the Indian team BCCI.
