KL Rahul called Karun Nair’s comeback inspiring and said his county cricket experience will help in the Test series. Know how both are prepared for the England tour.

India vs England: Karun Nair and KL Rahul’s good form is a big hope for the team

The excitement for the Test series between India and England is very high now. The first Test will be played on June 20 at Headingley, Leeds. This five-match series will end with the final match at Kia Oval in London.

First big test for Shubman Gill with a young squad

Team India is starting a new phase under the new Test captain Shubman Gill. After the retirement of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, many new and less experienced players have been added to the team. With these two senior players gone, there is now a big gap in the batting line-up.

The responsibility to fill this gap is now on players like KL Rahul and Karun Nair, who is making a comeback. KL Rahul is expected to open the innings in place of Rohit Sharma and will play an important role in giving the team a strong start. Karun Nair is returning to the Test team after 8 years – he last played in March 2017.

County cricket experience will help – Rahul’s belief

In a recent interview with BCCI, KL Rahul said that Karun Nair’s comeback story is very inspiring. He said that Nair’s experience from playing county cricket in England will help him in this series. Karun Nair has earlier played for Northamptonshire in county matches.

Rahul said,

“He stayed in the UK, trained alone, played county, and faced tough times – watching all this was emotional. His return is not only special for him but also for his family and for friends like us who saw his journey.”

KL Rahul also said that he has known Karun for a long time and has seen his journey closely. He said that Karun’s dedication and patience is an example for young players.

Both players did well in the practice series

Playing for India A against England Lions in the unofficial Test series, both Rahul and Nair performed well. Karun Nair scored a double century in the first Test at St Lawrence Ground in Canterbury. KL Rahul scored a century in the second match at Northampton.

For India, this Test series is not just another tour, but the beginning of a new phase. The return of players like Karun Nair and KL Rahul’s form can give the team much-needed stability. And if both of them perform on England’s pitches, India will have a chance to create history in this series.
